Main Causes of Shoulder Pain

There are a wide range of causes of shoulder pain. Soreness of the tendon of the rotator cuff or soreness of the subacromial bursa is the common cause of shoulder pain. This is usually experienced after engaging in activities like lifting, playing sports or anything that may require you to lift your arms, even painting.
Injuries of muscles or ligament may also result to shoulder pain.

Bursitis/Rotator Cuff Tendonitis – this is the most common diagnosis in patients with shoulder pain is bursitis or tendonitis of the rotator cuff.
Rotator Cuff Tear – this occurs when the tendons of the rotator cuff separate from the bone. Surgery is sometimes necessary for this condition.
Frozen Shoulder – also called ‘adhesive capsulitis’ is a common condition that leads to stiffness of the joint.
Shoulder Instability – is a problem that causes a loose joint. Instability can be caused by a traumatic injury (dislocation), or may be a developed condition.
