Swimming is an excellent exercise because it gives you an aerobic workout and swimming exercises all of the body’s muscle groups.

Swimming can also play an important part in shoulder rehabilitation along side traditional physical therapy.

Some swimming strokes will be more helpful than others depending on your shoulder condition. Some strokes, such as Butterfly stroke should be avoided if you have a shoulder injury because of the stress the stroke puts on your shoulder. Consult your physical therapist to check if swimming can help your shoulder and which stroke will be best for your shoulder.
