Shoulder Pinning
Shoulder Pinning is one of the safest and easiest ways to set a shoulder in place. Acromioclavicular separation, or AC separation is an example of a sholuder injury that is sometimes treated by pinning. However, shoulder pinning is usually only performed in select cases, and each case is individually discussed with the surgeon.
Recovery after shoulder pinning surgery relies wholeheartedly on the participation and dependability of the patient. The first thing I tell my patients after any shoulder surgery is to rest.
Rest is a tremendous asset in your shoulder recovery. Don’t shrug it off. Try to incorporate at least 8 hours of sleep into your daily routine, and if you feel like you need more, take it. Your body is trying to do regain its strength and repair itself. We all know how fun that can be.
When fighting with pain, ice can be a wonderful help. Easing inflammation, tension, and aching, ice should be used at least twice daily. Use it once at the peak of your pain, and then directly before bedtime. That way you can sleep soundly throughout the night.
