Shoulder Separation
Shoulder separation is a common shoulder injury. Shoulder separation occurs where the shoulder blade and collarbone meet together.
The most common causes are blows to the shoulder or forcefully falling with outstretched hands. Such events cause ligaments of the shoulder to become completely or partially torn. In doing so, the clavicle moves, its outside edge no longer connecting with the shoulder blade.
People suffering from this injury often experience soreness over the acromioclavicular joint. This is located between the acromion and the shoulder blade. Their pain is worsened with movement, and in special cases, a knot may form in the middle of the shoulder.
